Epiphany (Success)

This weekend I decided to take time off and focus on just me. Just relax and watch the boxing fight. No studio. No writing. Nothing of work related just have a good time and let my mind let go. But things planned never go the way you honestly want them to go. Somebody once told me "its not how you get to that moment but handle what happens after".

This weekend went to the dumps and i was hit with an epiphany. There is no days off!

For example, the Miami Heat can't celebrate already even with three games they have won because what do you know, the New York Knicks did a little comeback and won a game. It was only a game but it just goes to show you never take a day off, you work hard until you are there.  What's there you ask? It's whatever you choose there to be, whether it be finishing school, getting that dream apartment, getting your book published, being signed to a record deal or winning the NBA Finals. Hard work is paid off. Work at everything like it's your first time.

Sitting down, take a gander and read. It's story time...

Everyone wants to be successful. No matter who you are, you want to be successful. The question is, how much you want it?
John goes through his day to day feeling like there is more. He works at a office doing paper work for these snobby lawyers who don't appreciate him. He is underpaid for his position, he works overtime and doesn't get paid, and some how always gets cheated out of his vacation time. With the economy today, he feels trapped into thinking that if he leaves he won't find another job. While the lawyers get driven in their Mercedes-Benz with chauffeurs towards their house in New Jersey, the paralegals drive their own car to their luxury apartments on the upper east side, John takes his train to his studio apartment with no one to come home to.
The alarm goes off for yet another day of being in a hellhole and to make matters worse it is Monday. What some would kill for, he despises. Why? No one wants to feel trapped, especially when you know you are worth more. It's never hard to find something better if you are willing to fight for it and if you have the experience to back it up. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or can't do.
Walking into the office earlier then everyone else who worked there because he was the one who had to set up things and make sure everything was in its place. He had to make sure the coffee machine was on, the water cooler had a new tank with water in it, the copy and fax machine was working properly so it wouldn't jam when it was most needed, he also had to make sure that every one's office was clean even the conference room. After everything was finally done and he was able to sit down at his desk while they simultaneously walk in and begin to work.

Immediately their was a spill of coffee and more needed to be made, who was called? Then shortly after the fax machine jammed. who was called? And if the Internet was to ever go down, who was called? John had to make sure everything was running smoothly while still be able to file paper work, handle the phones, and schedule client depositions. This havoc continues throughout the day and John is stretched from all parts. Until the clock chimes 5 o'clock and everyone leave except him. Now he must stay behind organize the office, clean up and get ready for yet another day.
Taking the train late, he was the only one in the cart. The doors open and a pan handler comes in. John was startled as the man approached him with a cup which read "How much do you want it?" He reeked of sweat and moldy wet clothes with a breath of decay, the man had beady eyes and a long beard which can obviously hasn't been trimmed in months, maybe even years. Shaking his cup he asked John "Want me to tell you a secret?"
John's head was down, he raised it just enough to make eye contact. "Excuse me?" he responded.
He raises his voice, drops the cup and grabbed the man by the arm towards the rear door. "I said do you want me to tell you a secret? The secret towards success?" still dragging him. The man miraculously opened the door.
John began to fight back but the mans grip was tight, "Let me go, son of a bitch!" he yells out. "Aye!" he screams while the man dangled him by his wrist out the back of the moving train. He felt like the train was going faster then it normally does as the wind kisses his cheek and he can feel the tracks at the very tip of his shoes.
"How badly you want it?" he yelled at John. His eyes widened looking at him with a disgusting smile showing his rotten teeth. John's heart was about to come out of his mouth, he then grabbed onto the man's arm desperately trying to climb up completely avoiding his question. But the man lowered him even more closer to the tracks. "How bad do you need it, boy?" he continued to yell at him. John wasn't paying any attention he was afraid for his life.
They then looked at each other in the eye and the man said to him "Tell me, how much do you want it?" Still grabbing on to the man's arm he looked around and saw the pole near the door of the cart. Barely able to hold on to the man, he quickly grabbed onto that pole and pulled himself up enough to put one foot on the ledge of the doorway. With a spurt of adrenaline he kicked himself up and shouldered the man back into the cart. Both laying on the ground, the man turned to John and said "You found out my secret."
Breathing heavy trying to wrap his head around what had just happened he still gave him a look of astonishment. "What?" he said grasping for air.
The man stood up over John and said "My secret. The secret to success. You are going to want it bad enough. As bad as you fought right now to stay alive and get back in."
John still on the floor looked puzzled. "What the hell you talking about?" he said to him.
He extended his arm and replied "How did you feel? Just now."
Cautious grabbing his hand, he grabbed it and was pulled up, "Like I wanted to fucking live."
The man stretched out his lips into a smile and showed those grotesque teeth, "Exactly" he began "like you need to live. That is the secret towards success. You have to want it as much as you want to live. In the worse of situation even with a contemplation for suicide you want to live. It is in our nature to survive and find away to keep living. You see how you let go of me and grabbed onto that pole. You found your own means of survival. You going to want success as much as you want to live."He then walked over to his cup which was rolling on the floor of the train, it now read "Do you want it?"

Feeling better i decided to take my main nigga, my moms out to get some sushi in the nice spot in Dyckman, It's called Mama's Sushi. She was really iffy on sushi because she doesn't like raw fish. I told her this is not your regualar sushi place they have a little mix of hispanic. We ordered a sushi roll called "El Compesino", "Casandra" and "The Heights".
El Compesino- Crispy Salami, Crispy White Cheese and avacado topped with Sweet Plantains
Casandra- Grilled Salmon, Shrimp Tempura, and avacado topped with Wakame Paste
The Heights- Shrimp Tempura, Cream Cheese, Topped with Avacado and Shrimp

She didn't know how to use chopsticks so Sensai Art had to come to the rescue. We had a bug out, she dropped the rolls a couple times but it was all fun.

We even went shopping afterwards and bought us some books. When we get together i bring out the clown in her. That's my nigga.

And now back to the grind to keep writing and strive for the best. Always remember, you going to have to want it as much as you want to live!
