Chandelier

She runs her own Publicists Company, she is know all through the industry. Some might even call her the "Industry Vixen". She was tall, built to kill, and had chinky eyes but wasn't Asian. The problem with her success is that its a glorious lonely one.  Her boyfriend was someone who was always there for her through the good, bad, beautiful, ugly, ups, downs, poor, and well not really the wealth. Throughout her tyrant as a successful publicists there isn't a day that goes by that she still has a feeling in the bottom of her heart that she still owes him. She thinks to herself You don't owe anybody. We use whatever means we have and make it towards where we are today. I aspire to be more than beauty, handbags and designer shoes. And i will never allow anyone stop me from pursuing my dreams. But what is success, it isn't money or stature. The love you have for yourself and the ambition to thrive for more.
The saying going "behind every great man there is a great woman" but in this case "behind this woman was a great man".

A couple of years ago before being the woman she is, she was a receptionist at a dentist office. Working her 9-6 Monday through Friday barely able to pay bills, going to school evenings and having a boyfriend. There wasn't even much time for her to make her bed but she made life work. It wasn't till he walked in to get his routine cleaning. Mr. Walker was his name, light skin, handsome, he made the suit look good . He was the manager of one of the biggest R&B artist at the time. Their relationship at the moment was nothing but patient and receptionist.
Everyone has a bad day at work, some are just one day others is every day they step into their job. Well today was one of those bad days. Her boss, Dr. Rosenberg was being a real asshole. Just talking down to her, making her do things which had nothing of importance towards the other things she had to do like go down and put a quarter in my car, he would tell her.
"Its just one of those days, huh?" he asked her with his perfect smile. She would sometimes wonder why even come here with teeth like yours. But those routine visits were what probably made his teeth that perfect.
She rolled her eyes and nodded. "Oh my God. Is it that noticeable?" she asked him. He laughed a big laugh that his chest and shoulders move, as if he enjoyed his laugh. She then told him "You'll be next he is almost done with the patient he has now. You can have a seat."
But he stood there and asked her "You must hate it here?" She felt insulted like that's none of his business. "Why you want to know?" She asked him.
He blushed a little, he felt out of line asking her that but he had good intentions from his request. "Well, I come here at least, i would say once every 2 months. You look miserable from the little that I've seen you here. No one should be miserable at their place of work."
She quickly responded, "Not everyone gets to work their dream job." Then tried to catch herself as she knew that was something rude of her to say. "I'm sorry. It's just"
He then cut her off "No worries and no apologies. But that's what i mean about working in a miserable place."
Dr. Rosenberg came out and signaled him to come in. He nodded and placed his business card on the counter. "This is just in case you ever change your mind."

Finally home she took off her shoes and threw herself onto the bed. Yet another day she thought to herself. He slowly slithers up her body like a snake without making a noise. And then suffocates her with a big kiss. She jumps up in shock only to see it was her boyfriend.
"You scared the shit out of me." she yelled at him while holding onto her chest like she was trying to put her heart back in place.
He laughed thinking it was funny not knowing how afraid she was. Grabbing her foot to give her a massage he asked her how her day went. She shrugged her shoulders and just replied "Another day. I'm exhausted." She laid back down and asked him "How was yours?"
"You don't even know what happened to me today. This customer came in and" before he got to finished his sentence he was interrupted with a snore. She was fast asleep, he knew she was tired because she would only snore when she had a long day. He got up and began to slowly take her clothes off to put her in pajamas.
"The customer came in and fell asleep." he said to himself because there was no one there to hear him. Getting up from the bed he walked towards the living room and noticed the messy apartment. Time to clean, i guess he thought. He began to pick up and tidy the apartment a bit. Even did the dishes, it was the least he could do since there would be times she would come home and cook for him. That and also the plates have been in the sink for more than two days. It was three in the morning before he went to sleep.

The alarm rings for five in the morning, its time for him to get up and get ready for school. He took all the early classes on Thursday so he could get a couple of hours later that day at work. Getting him out of that bed was like trying to rip a band aid off a hair persons' arm, it hurts but it has to be done. All you would hear is groans and grunts as he would whisper into the air, "This is bullshit. Fucking tired of this shit."
He tried his best to quickly get himself together and be on his way but he was tired. She would sometimes wake up from his cursing, she would feel sorry for him that he had to wake up early. But things have to be done.

As the door closes, her alarm also rings, and its time for her to get up. Yet another day of work and today after work was her math class.
She would usually get into work fifteen to half an hour late because she would take her time doing her make up and hair. But today Dr. Rosenberg wasn't having because today was the day that his mother-in-law was coming in for a clean up and whitening. When she walked through that door and saw him sit behind her desk he knew that there was a problem.
"What's today?" he asked her with an attitude.
"I'm so sorry mister. i mean doctor" fumbling her words trying to be sympathetic.
"I asked you a question. What's today?" he said once again.
She cocked her head, I know he is not talking to me like that she thought and then said with her little girl voice "Thursday?"
"No. Today was the day i told you to come in early because my mother in law wanted to get her teeth whitened. I told you to come here early because today was a very busy day and since today was a busy day we were going to do her teeth before everyone else. Am I correct?" he asked as he stood up from the chair. Before she was able to acknowledge his question he then said "And you are half an hour late." He turned around and walked into his office.
She stood there with her mouth open not believing how he had the nerve to talk to her like that. Right when she got to her desk two patients walked through the door. And yet the day begins.
The day went on and she had it the worse dealing with those patients and explaining to them why their appointments are delayed. Finally when the day was over and all the paper work was in place and the last patient was out the door. It was time to go to school. Picking up her purse to leave Mr.Walkers' business card fell out. The easiest of signs that there needs to be a change and this was her chance. But she quickly picked it up and stuffed it back in her purse as she noticed that she was going to be late for her math class.

Running towards class, with a heavy purse on her back, she then ends up at a locked door. Looking through the little window she is knocking on the door, giving the professor a big smile. He looked right at her and tapped on his wrist.
She walked with her head down towards the train station. To make matters worse, her foot got caught in a crack of the pavement and she tripped and fell. Everything went flying her purse, books and herself. "Fuck!" she screams in pain as she had a bruise on her knee. She then starts to grab her stuff and put it together to be on her way. A yellow car pulls up right beside her, "Are you okay?" they asked.
She nodded her head and just said "Yes. I'm fine and dandy. Thanks for asking."
"Another one of those days, huh?"
She looked to see who was speaking to her and it was Mr. Walker. Her cheeks got red like Merlot wine as she answered back "Hey." She then began to nodded her head in acceptance of the misery she has endured. "Yes, it's one of those days."
The door swung open "Hop in let me take you home." he then gave her that smile she would see at the office.
Looking down the street towards the subway station, it was a hefty walk. She looked back down at him "Nah, I'm alright. The subway is right there. Thank you always."
He stuck his hand out "Let me turn this miserable day around. Its the least i could do."
Those signs are kicking her in the head now. She got into the car. And told him where she lived. The ride was awkward because they didn't really talk much until they got towards the front of the building. He noticed all the books in her bag.
"What are you studying?" he asked.
"I'm in school for public relations."
One of his eyebrows went up "Interesting. Why don't you come in for an interview on Monday. I might just have something for you."
